MAVERICK Technologies to Provide Control Solutions for Automotive Manufacturer
Columbia, Ill., April 6, 2008 — MAVERICK Technologies will provide design, programming, procurement and testing services for a control system to operate the instrument panel (IP) assembly line at an automotive manufacturing facility. The project includes implementing IP conveyor controls, integration of two semiautonomous production cells and provision of a human machine interface (HMI) subsystem to both generate assembly instructions for line operators and to accept production feedback for line operation and statistics.
MAVERICK will program the ControlLogix programmable logic controller (PLC) system to perform various functions, including the interlocking of the line control system with the welder and robotic clip insertion cells; operation of the chain conveyor variable frequency drive (VFD); illumination of the pick and stack lights; and interaction of the production line with the HMI and database.
MAVERICK will purchase and load the Rockwell FactoryTalk SE HMI software on the two servers and 11 workstation clients and then configure it into a functioning part of the control system. Components requiring configuration include RSLinx Enterprise, Visual Basic and FactoryTalk Transaction Manager, as well as 12 Web-based reports. The HMI will display part information, graphics, system status, alarms, job production sequence and rack build. It will also enable input of line / part data and reject information; management of scan and build sequence stacks; and interaction with the system database.
