MAVERICK Technologies Hires Talent from Ranken Technical College
Columbia, Ill., May 8, 2008 — After several rounds of interviews with numerous engineering students graduating from major Midwestern universities this month, MAVERICK Technologies hired three new control engineers from Ranken Technical College in St. Louis. Ranken students beat out top-tier candidates from Purdue University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, among other schools.
Following the decision, Mike Gavin, MAVERICK’s north regional manager, explained that Ranken approaches education in the same way that MAVERICK approaches business — by incorporating rigorous testing and simulation into every project. For example, one recent Ranken project required electrical automation technology (EAT) students to use programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human–machine interfaces (HMIs) and other technologies to maneuver a Batman action figure through a course of soda bottles. The fastest team won the competition.
