MAVERICK Technologies Featured in Control Magazine Article on Machine Testing
Columbia, Ill., May 27, 2008 — MAVERICK Technologies is featured in a new Control magazine article entitled “Will the Machine Work?” The article outlines the pros and cons of each method of testing machine performance prior to installation and commissioning: software emulation, hardware simulation, prototyping and beta testing.
The article includes a quote from MAVERICK’s director of operational consulting, Tim Gellner, regarding the software emulation process. This form of machine testing can identify potential problems upfront, shortening the machine startup time, and can be reused later as a platform for operator training. Plus, running loopback code through a soft controller tests the program without requiring modifications to the program or PLC.
Gellner goes on to give an example of a recent software emulation project that MAVERICK performed for an expander turbine. MAVERICK was able to set up a soft controller, load the PLC program, add loopback code and connect it with the HMI. MAVERICK then made the necessary changes prior to commissioning the turbine, saving both time and money in the long run.
