Ask the Expert
Jim Wright, one of MAVERICK’s Senior Consultants, answers our clients’ questions about energy savings and utilities optimization.
Question: One of our steam-generating units is operating below the advertised efficiency. What can we do to bring it back to at least the manufacturer’s guaranteed performance?
Answer: A tune-up and some control strategy enhancements will help all your units reach optimal efficiency.
Steam Generation: Optimize Your Unit Efficiency
Many industrial process facilities use steam as a primary heat source for their various processes, including co-generation of electric power as a byproduct. Some of the steam may be produced by conventional fossil-fired boilers that are more than five years old. If so, they may need a significant tune-up and / or an enhancement of their control strategies in order to achieve more efficient operation.
MAVERICK has the ability to assess the operating efficiency of these units. We also provide re-characterization and tuning services and control strategy modifications that will not only make these units more reliable, but will put them back at their peak operational efficiency for any given load.
